Help Strange Graphic Issue w/I7 Build and Pro Tools 8
Hello everyone . . .
I have an i7 machine with an Asus p6t Deluxe MB, and 6 GB of Corsair Dominator Ram. I am running an NVidia 9800GTX. In certain sessions . . . certain plugins will not not "draw". The window appears . . . but the gui is never drawn. It seems, the longer a session is open . . . the more things I do in a session, the greater the propensity for this error to emerge. It appears to only affect certain plugs. I have noticed it on Speakerphone, and the TG Mastering Pack. Is this a video card issue? I have searched the forum and was unable to find a post regarding this problem . . . but it must have come up for someone else. Any help would be appreciated . . . Thanks, Justin |

What version of Pro Tools are you running? What are your display settings?

I had to go back to an old 128 NVidia card.

yeah its a bit of a "damned if you do and damned if you dont" situation.
with the nvidia higher mb card some systems wont run BUT when you drop back to a lower spec ATI memory starts becoming an issue. just another step in the digi dance. |

Re: Help Strange Graphic Issue w/I7 Build and Pro Tools 8
Well . . . here's a new bit of info . . . I started to work in pro tools and when the problem emerged, I went to check my color/resolution by right-clicking the desktop and dragging down to settings. However, when I did this . . . Windows informed me that my driver had been written for a previous version of Windows and could not work . . . so Windows had rotated back to their generic video driver. So . . . I went to NVidia's website and downloaded and installed the most recent video driver for my card. Everything worked great for an hour or two . . . then the problem came up again. I then repeated my previous attempt to get the resolution specs etc. and Windows told me the same thing: My video driver was written for a previous version of Windows and had been automatically deselected in favor of the generic video driver. This is really weird. Pro Tools is somehow making my computer switch video drivers to the rudimentary Windows driver . . . does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks, Justin |
