Upgrade with more tracks?

I just wanted to get everyones opinion on the amount of tracks allowed on protools LE

Do you think they should add more on an upgrade and what is the chances that this will occur. CPUs can handle it, why not? [img]images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

This has been discussed numerous times, not only here, but in countless threads on various audio sites across the web. Yes, 32 tracks (or more) would be nice. Yes, I can get over that with my Athlon 1800 XP system (if you count the aux tracks) even when running the infamous "Davec torture test". Yes, Didi may not want to do it because they don't want to hurt their own high dollar system sales (TDM / HD), although I don't think just opening up PTLE to 32 tracks would hurt the high end sales.

What are the chances of this getting done? Who knows. Digi's policy is to NOT discuss any future products / upgrades until they're ready to ship. On one hand, this causes users a LOT of hassle in trying to plan their systems... OTOH, it's VERY commendable because Digidesign is the ONE company who can never be accused of vaporware like most other companies can. Seems like they can't win either way - if they don't announce their plans, users scream. If they DO announce them, users scream. [img]images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/img]

I agree. TDM or HD gives you 64 voices to use at the same time. It seems logical to me to give half that with the intro systems like the 001. I know for a fact that it's possible, and that it's just a number in the programming that limits you on track count.

Digi, please consider giving us exactly half of the big boy toys...
