Default Native Instruments Electrik Piano RTAS vs VST

I am running PTLE 6.2.3 on a Quicksilver 800mhz and 1.2gRam. When using Native Instruments Electrik Piano on PT I can't even play a chord because all I hear is a click noise. The system usage is always high. I am only able to play one note at a time with the latency setup at 1024. However, I have Cubase SE version on the same mac and I am able to use Electrik Piano without any problems at 512 and the system usage is very low. Why? What is causing this problem on PT? I have updated Electrik Piano to the latest update. I even download the Eco Piano presets. Is it me or should I have gotten Cubase SX? can anyone help? suggestions?
