Can I generate MTC or SMPTE without the SYNC i/o?

I am trying to set up my pro tools HD system as the master to drive the autofader system on an AMEK board for mixing. Is this possible without the Sync i/o and if so, how is it done?

Get a friend with a USD or SYNC to create an audio file of the desired tc and put it on an audio track.

I don't know the first thing about your AMEK, and the audio track thing will work, but ProTools will generate MidiTimeCode and MidiMachineControl. All you need is a basic midi interface (Emagic MT4 or similar)and check the settings in PT. To generate MTC go to the session setup window, check generate tc to port, and put PT online. To generate MMC go to setups, peripherials, machine control. Your AMEK will follow you where ever you go in PT.

or you can get a motu MTP AV...a bit shady sometimes, but it generates code and spits it out
