Control Surfaces
Hey all! I am in the process of getting a control surface to go with pro tools 10. I am running a 2010 Mac pro quad core, 16gb ram, apogee duet, OSX 10.7.3. I have pro tools 10, what I am looking at doing is either getting the UAD Apollo and getting the complete production toolkit, an aurora lynx 8 and doing 16 channels of analog summing, or I'm going to spend the money, get HD native with a HD I/O 8x8x8 AND a HD I/O 16x16 analog with maybe a uad 710-4 pre, I don't need, really anymore than 2 Mic pre's as I am looking at doing mostly mixing, remixing, mastering, and very minimal tracking. So the purpose of HD native speed becomes kinda mute, but I may be willing to pay the extra for the quality of converters from the HD I/O series. Back to my original question, control surface? I might be able to get the C24, which would solve my issue, but the reality is that I will need something smaller so I am looking at either the Avid Artist series (heard they have a ton of issues) the SSL Nucleus (only has HUI protocol, so control is limited) now I saw the Focusrite control 2802 which has a s@#t load of features, but again has HUI protocol. Any opinions on any of these 3 surfaces? I guess also, what about the Mackie MCU?
