Default HD I/O Not Seeing Octopre

Hi Guys, It was my understanding that I could use my Focusrite Octopre via ADAT Lightpipe into my HD I/O for extra channels of ADAT. Rep told me I could get 8 channels at 48K, 4 channels at 88.1K, and 2 channels at 96K. Here's my problem..no matter what I do, I can't get Pro Tools to see my Octopre. Tried two optical cables, external word clock hook up, internal word clock hook up. Everything says it's locked and communicating, but no channels show up in PT. ??? Extremely possible that I'm missing something, so I'm looking for help. Can I even use it this way? Just trying to get a few more channels when needed. Thanks in advance.

Well, I don't see anything in I/O settings for ADAT. In the hardware setup, there is a Digital Format which I have set to SPDIF Optical. Is that what your referring to?

Yes, that is precisely what's wrong. You need to change spidf from optical to coaxial. That makes it so spidf is through the rca jacks, and frees up the optical to be adat.

Also, do you have the 8x8 or the 16x16?

I have the 16 x 16. Switched from optical S/PDIF to plain old S/PDIF, still no luck.

One thing to keep in mind, you only have a max of 16 inputs, whether analog or digital. So there's no advantage trying to use the much lesser quality a/d conversion of the Octopre. You're better off running it in Direct mode, where the preamps go straight to the line outputs, and then go analog into the HD IO.

OK, cool! Thanks! I thought I was able to gain some additional inputs aside from the analog 16. I used to use the Octopre with my 003 factory plus giving me 8 analog and 8 ADAT. Thought the HD I/O would allow me to do the same. Guess I gotta go back to the credit card to gain added inputs. Thanks again for your help. Been trying to solve this for days.
