Regarding the installer being slow, I want to share that when I built my new i9 system last weekend, I am not exaggerating when I say that Windows 10 Pro installed faster than Pro Tools 2021.6. Win 10 took LESS THAN 5 MINUTES and Pro Tools took more 10 minutes all together. I tagged Avid in an IG post to make them aware. I’m sorry, this program is not more complicated than the OS. Seems like that installer needs to be optimized. Maybe they can hire the Reaper devs

I've been having a few hangups on system restart/shutdown before installing 2021.6 so I might be overdue for a clean OS install and programs as well.

Seems like the problems are sort of associated with previously created sessions that use a lot of plugins. I have the hybrid engine turned off. Changing the buffer size or disk cache definitely locks everything up on those established sessions. Sessions without many plugins seem to run ok, which is where I'm able to do most of my Playback Engine alterations.

2019 Macbook pro seems to be running 2021.6 just fine but it's not connected to HDX

EDIT: No luck for me on 2021.6, I've reverted back to 2021.3.1
So I installed Eucon 2021.6 the other day after I reverted back to 2021.3.1. I decided to give 2021.6 another go today and it's as good as I would realistically expect it to work. I have disabled the hybrid engine and things are running smooth now, although perhaps the previous version of Eucon had something to do with it being clunky last time i installed 2021.6. Anyways, I'm able to open heavy plugin sessions that were created in 2021.3.1 without issue, but when I turn the hybrid engine on with them PT freezes up. I can start a blank session with Hybrid, add plugins and things seem to run smooth although i haven't deep dived into it. I think the hybrid engine still needs to get some issues worked out with 3rd party plugins. Regardless, as long as 2021.6 runs in the classic engine I'm happy. I had to convert a stereo width track to mono today and it was absolutely awesome being able to do so.

Default Pro Tools 2021.6

No problems here whatsoever with HDX 1 on the hybrid engine. So far I am running 569 tracks, heavy plug-in load, 5.1 session and around 35 % CPU usage without any dsp channel enable. With the last limiter channels on dsp, the load comes down 4 of 5%.
So happy I can run so big sessions with a stable and powerful system.

Running on Mac Pro 2019 12 core.

Has anyone had any weirdness with delay compensation in Hybrid mode?

I recorded some acoustic guitar, took the track out of DSP mode and the guitar was not delay compensated correctly. I had to restart PT to get it to sit right.

I haven't sat down to recreate it yet.

Same as paul_g here - I reverted from 2021.6.0 to 2021.3.1 just now and the GUI is operating noticeably smoother. It's not totally fluid but definitely better. I upgraded from Catalina to Big Sur yesterday and am on a Mac Mini 2020 i7 64GB RAM.

Hi, ok after lots of testing we found one of our ADR templates just didn't accept the DSP Safe mode. A minor glitch that was fixed by rebuilding the template. The engine seems good with an HDX1 system.
Just a pain to go through & change settings when you want to record into an old project of course..

All been fine for me on Win10. So at the moment is it just Big Sur and M1 where people have trouble?

Unusable on my m1Mini
Rolled back.
The Video engine has worked fine for me on 2021.3.
How is disabling the video engine altogther considered an improvement?

Clearly it is an improvement in bugs and regression for the current release 😂

I'm glad I'm not paying for the current debacle.
