How to amplify vocals in comparison with the tracks
Hello,
I made a recording of my Choir at church and I was asked to amplify the vocals in comparison with the tracks and/or bring the tracks up. To do this I thought I use the compressor and EQ-4band Plug in. Please Help and thank you in advance. |

Re: How to amplify vocals in comparison with the tracks
do you have the choir on separate tracks from the (i assume) backing track?

Re: How to amplify vocals in comparison with the tracks
it's difficult to give good advice without hearing the material but i'd suggest getting the balance as good as you can before applying compression. a little compression on the choir will help to control the dynamics but it could result in an increase in background noise (including spill) during quieter passages.
if the backing is quite dynamic, it may be necessary to apply some light compression there too. learning how to use mix automation will help you too. sorry this is quite broad but as i say, it's difficult to offer specific advice without knowing more about the nature of the recorded material. |
