Default Maintaining volume strength in fades?

probably a stupid question, but one that i figure there has to be a trick for that i am missing right in front of me. anytime i place a fade when i am editing a music bed together or something to that effect, the volume dips down then up on the fade, and typically i would ride the volume automation to fix, but when i have a few fades close together it takes some tweaking with the copy-paste'ing of the automation writes. are there any tricks for this to keep the volume smooth durring a fade or is the way i am doing it now really the best way?

try "equal power" as opposed to "equal gain" for the fade shape

are you talking crossfades?

then the equal power comment is right on.

the fade should look like a bloated teepee.
