Default PT 8.0.1 killed FW410

Macbook Pro 4.1, 4gb memory, OSX 10.5.8, latest PT, latest M-Audio drivers for FW410

Before I installed Pro Tools, FW410 was fine with Logic 8. Now after Installing PT, there is no audio out form FW410. I see meters in PT, I see meters in 410software interface Mixer page (S/W rtn) but not on the output page or the interface itself. No matter what I do it won't work. Same with Logic. reinstalled 410 still the same. Any ideas?

Hi,

have you gone to the AMS setup and selected FW410? there you can select what to use for the input and output etc. select the FW410 in the "properties for" window, then choose the frequency and bit rate and configure the ins/outs

The box is an nightmare.. A friend suggested to just go in and force the sampling rate to 48khz and back to 44.1 (in the FW410 interface app) - that is how he's regulary getting his signal back and guess what? it worked!

I had this happen to me. I thought the 410 was dead. I went out and bought a 610 and put the 410 on the shelf. A few months later I hooked it up to a different computer and ever since it had a 4 month vacation it's been fine. Go figure. Seriously.

My 410 also crapped out a while ago. Oddly enough, reversing the way the FireWire cable hooked up to the computer from the box fixed it. I have since bought a new cable and no problems.

my life was kind of ruined by the 410 box already..just a question:
is the 410 which is problematic or is an extended M-audio feature ?

I don't know for sure exactly what you're experiencing, but have any of you tried a clean uninstall and reinstall of the 410 driver, as well as following the instructions for the driver installation (not connecting your device until after you install the driver and restart)?

Hi, DigiTechSupt, yes I did as I said in my first post. It's just that the box freezes on regular basis and you only get it going if you go in and switch the sampling rate switch back and forward. We are using the system as a live backtrack playback machine and my tech said it needs to be reset this way almost every time the system is started up so he gets the audio running.

DTS:
Thanks for chiming in. In my case - yes I tried a full reinstall when it happened. I also tried to reinstall on multiple machines and finally gave up - went out and bought the 610 - which is why I still have both the 410 and 610 and have been trying to get the 610 to work with my MPB.

I have no idea why the 410 just started to work again or why I even thought of trying it. I have enough interfaces here that I can run M-Powered with so if the 410 goes on another vacation I'll be covered. Now if we can only get my 610 to work
