Default PT7 problem opening old sessions

Hello

I'm working on a PT system in a friend of mine's studio; he just installed PT7 (SP2) and everything seems to be OK with newely created sessions; however, the system just freezes (needing a hardware reset) or PT quits when trying to open old 6.9 sessions; Also, he has 4 UAD cards installed and the plug ins seem to be fine with new sessions, while we're having issues (they're not working) with the 6.9 sessions the we managed to open (before a lock of the system or a quit of PT).
The system was working flawlessy with PT6.9cs4 before the upgrade.
Is this a documented issue? Is there something that has to be done apart trying to import tracks from older sessions with the "import session data" command (that crashed the system too when we tried to import all the tracks at once from an old session)?

The specs:

P4 3.0 Ghz
Asus P4C800
1.5 Gb DDR400 Ram
Maxtor 40Gb P-ATA system drive
Maxtor 120Gb P-ATA audio drive
SIIG firewire card
4 x UAD-1 cards with UAD VST/RTAS Wrapper
Win XP SP2
002R

Thank you

L.G.

I had this same problem. Everytime I opened an old session, PT would shut down. The reason was that the WAVES plugins were causing a problem. I had to download the Pro Tools 7.0 WAVES update installer to correct the problem.

I'm having the same problem and we actually have similar computers (same hardrives, using the vst/rtas wrapper, etc..). I wonder if there's a connection.

One thing that seems to work for the older session is disabling the hyperthreading in the bios. This was required for the older version of PT, but this new one is supposed to utilize it. But like you said, with it on, new projects work fine but not old ones. I have it turned off and and older projects work but it seems that I can use less plug-ins than before. Older projects with lot's of plug-in have to be trimmed down or it just hangs.

I emailed the VST/RTAS guys and they said an update is coming (which we have to pay for). But I experienced problems even with projects that had no wrapped plugs.

I hope one of us figures this out soon, because it's very frusterating to have to import everything.
