Not yay, IRs don't load despite the full installer... Oops.

Beta License expires in April so it may be a while.

does the beta 8 open old sessions saved with Altiverb 7 and replaces the V7 with V8?

Yes, I opened a session with 7 instantiated, which recognized 8 but without the IRs loading it's useless.

Wouldn't read too much into that. It's pretty common for beta licenses just to have a blanket period even if the goal is for the product to be released much sooner. I have quite a few beta licenses that are 1yr or 6 months and the product was released 3 months later. It just means less for the developers to have to deal with over managing beta licenses/testers.

Ok, then boo!
But either way, it means that things are moving forward, albeit very slowly.

But, this is a really good sign that we will be able to access old sessions using v7 moving forward. This was a big concern of mine, thinking that they might take an Izotope-style approach, which would be devastating.
