Default Can\'t open after transferring to comp from laptop

Hey guys,

I'm a newbie. I've recently installed my ProTools onto my laptop to record a piano. This works fine. I've also got an external hardrive (250GB)and recently tried to transfer the session from the laptop to my desktop. When I try to open the file, it says:

Assertion in "\code\aztec_Staley\AlturaPorts\NewFileLibs\Ff\Aul ine 33

I can't find any meaning for this error message. I've already tried copying it from the USB drive to the desktop and my usual ProTools session folder. As it is a small session, I've also tried transfering using a USB stick but this had the same result.

Does anybody know what I can do? could it possibly be to do with the settings on my laptop? (When I installed protools on my laptop, I did all the required settings but didn't do any of the optional settings).

Thanks in advance!!

Johann

First, it would be helpful to know what version of the software you are using. I can tell from the error message that it is version 7, but other users might not be able to do that.

This error is sometimes seen when a session or its audio files have been moved from one volume to another, but are still available and accessible from the other drive. Pro Tools gets confused about the disk allocation. Drag and drop the session document and all necessary audio files to the desktop, then render the original materials inaccessible by disconnecting the external drive. Launch the new session copy.

And while not directly related to your problem, I would also like to suggest using the recommended setup for laptops; running your sessions on an external firewire drive with the oxford 911 chipset.
