Yamaha DM1000 @ 96kHz w/ MY16-AE

A head scratcher:

I have a PTHD interfaced to a Yamaha DM1000 via the MY16-AE cards. Works great at 48k but can't get any audio when taken up to 96k. The manuals say the card can do it in double mode but hence nothing. Any suggestions? Could it be the wiring configuration of the multipin connector on the card? Don't want to put words in anyones mouth!
