Default Yamaha DM1000 and protools

Anyone used dm1000 and protools together? How do I optimize the function? Do I need any other hardware?

yamaha claim pro tools compatability so it should work fine

I thought about buying one but went with the 01V96. They are basicaly the same with exception to the quality of the 12 op amps and you can drop another $1000 for the meterbridge. That brings it to close to $6000. Little out of my range. Got the O1v96 for $1600 new. Good deal I thought. Any way it controls protools well it has a remote layer for that as im sure you know. The bigest thing for me I would like to have scribble pads on the yamaha to quickly know where im at. Just takes some getting used too. They are both great mixers/control surfaces. when you look at maybe a digimatch 96 and controler of your choice you are at if not above the cost of the 01v96. It does have its limits how indepth you can control pro tools but it does the basics very well. Plus I just getting into this thing. The manual is 330 pages long

Also They could of put a simple talkback in some where. I dont even think the DM1000 has one. Thinking hard about the Control Center thats been of topic latley.

Sorry to catch this post late must of missed it. I was searching for somethig else and found it.

Good luck, the DM1000 is a nice piece I almost bought it but when I found out how simular the two are and the deal I got, I went the cheaper way. You have nicer pres then me ( and 8 more )but I have mine clocked to a apogee piece so the are usable for drums and stuff.

another catch between the DM1000 and the O1V96 is on board automation. O1V96 would need a sequencer of some kind to play back dynamic automation, so it is only worth the money you pay. If you are looking for just fader control for ProTools (the first 16 faders only) O1V96 is a good choice. But if you are thinking of runnig automation on the board (MTC Sync from PT) as well to do some mixes and DSP stuff, then you better look at something higher.
