Default Air Plugins missing with 2023.9

So I was wondering if I`m doing something wrong

pretty much every plugin I own runs now smooth and nicely in 2023.9 except air plugins are not able to get loaded at startup - are they not 64 bit yet??

MacBook Pro 16 inch 2021
Apple M1 Max
OSX 12.6.9
Protools 2023.9

Definitely 64 bit, have been for years. Running in native or Rosetta mode? I’m trying to recall if Air plugins are Silicon compatible yet?

You need to install the AIR plugins. And if you have old versions installed that were only running under Rosetta you need to install the latest versions that support Apple silicon native. Nothing to do with 64-bits.

What is going on with Rosetta, the change in 2023.9 to default to Apple silicon instead of running under Rosetta, what you should do with checking all plugins before you upgrade, how to use PT Prefs to check Apple silicon support in plugins etc., has been discussed in hundreds of posts on DUC. Findable with Google search if you have any more questions.

Protools is NOT running in rosetta mode! and I tried to install the latest air plugins several times (AIR Effects Bundle 2022.2 Mac (DMG) 143.44 MB) - that`s the right one isn`t it?

Just to rule out some arguments, I just opened AIR Reverb plugin on 2023.9 running in native mode on unsupported macOS 14.0 -- so please just reinstall.

The latest Air Effects Bundle I have in my account is 2023.5 and the latest Air Instruments Bundle is 2023.8. You definitely need to get the latest installers to run in Apple Silicon Native.

To correct a typo: the change was in Pro Tools 2023.3 (and all later releases) defaults to Apple Silicon Native.

But clearly 2023.9 defaults to apple silicon native as I said, and this is the root of your problem.

Did you try to search for any of the information on this I mentioned?

If you looked at the 2022.2 plugins you installed with PT Prefs you would see they are Intel only, reinstalling them multiple times is not going to change that. 2022.2 is almost a year ahead of any Pro Tools beta support for Apple Silicon, so they would never be candidates for that.

So, yes clearly you don't have the latest plugin installers. You need "AIR Effects Bundle 2023.5 Mac (DMG) 265.38 MB" which should be in your Avid Account "My Products" section.

My spreadsheet has (messy but seemingly most accurate) info on plugins and installers: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...Agi3ENOBs/edit

You should be better prepared before doing a major upgrade like this, including checking if all your third party plugins are available in Apple silicon native or not, and have obtained those installers or decide to run under Rosetta.

This statement is incorrect and this approach will get you in trouble going forward. I would err on the side that plugins are not silicon ready until specifically announced by the manufacturer and verified by users for a specific version or the plugin and higher.
