Default Getting a new iMac 20" 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo

Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading my Mac Mini to a new iMac 20" and get 4 MB of RAM. I have a basic MBox Mini and the iMac "in sight" is the - 20-inch iMac (MB323LL/A) 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - and it is not yet a tested or qualified computer according to Digi's info page.

Anyone on the Forum with any info or knowledge of problems and/or the compatability issues? Any input and help is very much appreciated!

shouldn't be a problem, maybe others could chime in or a search of the DUC might help further. Have you noticed they have this model in the Refurb section at Apple for $999? I have plenty of friends who swear by the refurb page and it would basically pay for your RAM upgrade. The nice think about running an Mbox mini is you are saving the Firewire port for a firewire drive. Don't forget about one of those!

Hi,
Many thanks for your quick replies, Syd and OddsAre. Much appreciated!
I'll probably order it tomorrow!

I'm in Europe so I can't take advantage of the refurb deal but
I think I can get an OK deal on the iMac 20".

Hey Syd,

Quick question for you. Are you using an external firewire drive for your audio? And if so, how do you have that and the 003 hooked up? Do you have it daisy-chained off of the FW400 or the drive plugged into the FW800 and the 003 in the FW400?

I'm just curious which way would work best with the new iMacs.

Thanks!

Yes, I have a LaCie Porsche(it doens't have FW800) for audio and a D2 for back up/video (that stays off when recording). That's how its hooked up,daisychained off of the FW400: iMac>003>Porsche>D2. Although the D2 has FW800, never use it.I might try since its only for back up not recording. Digi says not to use FW800 but I've seen some people here doing it.
