mbox2 no input

I'm trying to setup a mbox2 on an intel macbook running windows xp prof via "paralles", an emulator like "virtual pc".
service pack 2 is not installed.

The problem is that there is no mbox input available in any audio device setup dialog, e.g. steinberg waves, just
asio output. Also in the system audio-setup there is no chance to choose any mbox input as the system input.
I installed the uptodate mbox2 asio driver.
Might the missing SP2 be a reason for that or is there anything else?

You're not missing anything; the Digidesign Wavedriver, the driver that allows the MBox to be used as the default windows driver, is playback only. It will not show up as the default windows audio input on any windows system.

I definitely don't recommend using Parallels for audio applications. Boot camp? Yes. But since parallels only allows half of the system's resources to be allocated for windows use, you're really pushing it resource-wise on most systems.
