Default Need Help with Two Things......

Hey,

I have Pro Tools LE 6.4, with a Digi 002 control surface, and it's running on a PowerMac G5. The computer doesn't have any other programs on it besides the ones that were in the system when I bought it. The problem I'm having, and it showed up on the first ever session I did, was that sometimes while recording, the take will suddenly stop and I'll get a message saying "the system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs frequently, try increasing the H/W Buffer size in the Playback engine panel."

So, I'll do that, and it still does the same thing. At this point, I have the H/W Buffer Size as high as it can go. On top of that, I get frequent errors saying that my computer is running out of CPU Power. This is a basically brand new PowerMac, and its running out of CPU Power? I have the processing speed as high as it can go, as well as all the things in the playback engines, as high as they can go, but the problem persists. Any help?

Also, during a session, whenever I try to use a plug-in like D-verb or anything of that nature, suddenly a "Chh......chh......chh....." sounds becomes audible in the headphones. I can hear it when I'm not playing back or recording anything, but it shows up when I bounce the sessions to disk.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a second hard disk?

No, but I know that I need one. I suspected that that was the case. Good thing external hard drives go for pretty cheap nowadays

But does anyone knows what might be causing the weird "Chh" sound whenever I try to use a plug-in.

You may want to try switching your 002 to the front firewire port this has been know to fix some of these problems, but i would highly recommend getting a second drive just for audio.
