OK - I'm confused as hell!!
Is the 2400+ faster than the 2500 Barton?? ...why?? My 2200+ runs at 1.8GHz and I set my 2400+ to 2GHz in the BIOS - so I had assumed the bigger the number the higher the GHz.... But others are talkin about OCing their 2500 to 2GHz!!?? what's up with that?? I assume the 2XXX number has no correlation to GHz (the bigger the number the more GHz). I guess this means that although the 2500 (Bartons) may be rated lower in GHz they are more efficient (can do more with each cycle)??

Is there a good source/web-site(s) I can check out on this kinda thing?

Sorry if I sound like I'm talkin outta my ass - This is an area I'm not too familiar with!

Yah I am kinda wondering why the bartons are rated lower myself, however there seems to be a 40 dollar price difference between them. I guess the barton has a larger cache, but I'm not sure how this all plays into performance. I don't know, but if my results with the barton are anywhere near sebjoerg's, then I know I will be happy with it. Man I couldn't even run my mastering sessions, and that is the core of my business. hehe, if you would call 75 bucks once or twice a month business.

Allen,
The goods arived from Newegg yesterday.
A7V333-XL, XP2100+, And cool mod 9.
Wound the processer up to 2700 and kicked
up the DDR2700 like you recommended.
You will never guess what happened!!!!
It rocks!!! Formatted both drives to ntsf
audio disk on the promise 1. 32 trax, all
plugs, jumps right into recording. Looks real
stable. 50 to 60% in cpu usage window. Didn't
want to push the aux's yet.
Big Bango for the Bucko!
Thanks again Allen
Chad

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Chad,
You the man! I think people are paying too much for processors in here when the XP2100 can do just as much right now with some simple tweeking. Guys save your money! Won't be long the Clawhammer will be out and you spent all your money on soon to be outdated processors. That XP2100+ will run just as fast as the others. I saw one guy running it at 2.5Ghz with the A7N8X motherboard.

Do you have a BOIS tweak FAQ or config sheet for the Allenstien PC.

MB A7V33-X/L
AMD XP 2800+ 333
...

Im wondering, most of the BIOS settings are in auto mode by default. The PC boots up fine without any changes.
What tweeks , if any do I need to get the most out of this box.

thanks

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">tfrazier1964...did you tweak your bios for cpu speed, like up to 2083MHz? I've got the same mobo and cpu as you and so far I haven't been able to run the cpu speed higher than 1667MHz/12.5 freq multiple/133 external freq w/o getting sudden shutdowns and problems booting. If you are running @ 2083MHz, what RAM chip are you using? Thanks.
