Default MacBook Pro compatability with Pro Tools 10 ?

Will the PT 10 software that comes with PT 11 work on a mid-2009 MacBook Pro (2.66 ghz Duo Core) which is, "qualified with PT 10 before PT 11 existed ? This computer is not qualified for PT 11 on the Avid site.

I can't afford a new computer but would like to upgrade to PT 10 to use some AAX & RTAS Plugins.

Any thoughts ?

cheers, T

If it's blessed for PT10, then it is.

My MBP isn't quite as old as yours - mid 2010, 2.66 GHz core i7. I ran PT10 for awhile with no problems (aside from RAM limits) during my transition to PT11.

Ok, thx JFreak & Ticker !
I guess I have to keep digging, try it or, figure out a way to get an answer from Avid.
I don't really want to pay for a support call because they'll probably say that they don't know...

cheers, T

I have a Core2Duo mid 2009 MacBook Pro, 17" although with 3.06 processor, not 2.66. Also 8gb RAM (the maximum it can take), a 500gb 7200rpm sata drive as the main system drive, plus a 1tb 7200rpm sata drive in a caddy sat in the place where the DVD superdrive normally goes.

PT10 runs fine, obviously with limitations as to how many plugins you can run, etc.

Also, I'd say that PT11 runs better than PT11. Yes there are still some outstanding major bugs waiting fixes, but if you are predominantly working with audio, not multi out virtual instruments, or are happy to use virtual instruments just through one stereo output, then PT11 will work.

Remember that 'not qualified' = 'we haven't tested it' and 'we won't provide support if you run into problems'. It does not = 'it won't work' !

I recently owned a 17" Macbook pro 2008 Core 2 Duo 2.6ghz (BTO) with 1TB 7200rpm HD and 8GB memory. PT10 worked very well on this machine...

Just be aware that with a Core 2 Duo, it will run audio with PT11, but will not run video. Works in PT10 though...
