Default Behringer ADA8000 was shipped to me.

I got notification from zzounds that my ADA8000 has shipped. I am going to test it out and post the results on the DUC ASAP. Has anyone else received theirs? Maybe I'll write up a review and submit it to TapeOp. I can't wait!

I received mine last friday, but its defective, so i sent it back. Typical...

The AD wasnt working. It sounded like there was no clock or somehting, but that was firmly into place. Tried everything i could think of, including tests with my ADAT-recorder. No dice.

But the box is packed with stuff. It will make the most easiest connection with only 2 optical wires, and no worries about groundloops. I think someone could even consider the unit just to get 4 stereo-headphone-mixes into the studio. That is if you have the adat-out still available. Anyway...more to follow when i have a functioning unit. So much for ISO-standards.....

Not a good sign... I am still hopeful. How will the 001 and ADA8000 sync their digital data streams? Who will be the master and who will be the slave? Will this impact syncing my SPDIF input coming from my digital mixer?

You can set the unit to slave to something, or let it be the master If you use your digital mixer as clokc you can maybe use that as a clock, since the Behringer also has wordclock in. But the easiest for sync is: digital mixer through spdif rca -> digi001 (set as slave to spdif)-> behringer. If you want to use the Behringer completelu you must hook it up with 2 optical cables. One for 8 channels from digi001 to ADA8000 and one for 8 channels from ADA8000 to digi001. The ad and da works simultaneously, and use the same clokcsource, internal or external.

Reason #1 why IMHO Behringer sucks. Cheap, 4th rate crap, built to break.

Built to break....hmmm weird....all my behringer stuff still works....very well I might add. Maybe mine is defective....dammit, and I think my warranty is up on some of it....damn companies always screwing you, right as your warranty goes out the stuff keeps working just fine...figures....
