pro tools le 8 question
Hi
This is my first post so apologies if it is the wrong section. I am making the move from logic to pro tools and am buying an mbox 2 pro with either pro tools le 7 or 8. 1. Is 8 significantly better than 7? 2. are bomb factory and ignition pack included on the software cd for 7 and 8 or would they all come on a separate cd? Thanks for your help |

Re: pro tools le 8 question
It's been a LONG time, but I remember being really happy when I upgraded from 7 to 8... Although I can't remember why.
I believe that all "bonus" software was on a separate CD. I could be wrong though. Again, that was a while ago. The biggest thing will be making sure that the older software will run with your computer. Your OS must be 10.6.8 or lower to run PT 8. And in case you don't already know this, you will need an external Firewire hard-drive, FW400 only for MBox 2 Pro, 7200RPM, with Oxford chipsets. There will be a bit of a learning curve... but it's worth it! Have fun |

Re: pro tools le 8 question
With PT8, the stock Bomb Factory stuff is part of the main installer. My 2 cents, 8 has some really nice goodies(9 is better still) like Elastic Pitch, and some very solid VI plugins(MiniGrand is a very good piano VI, and DB-33 is an excellent Hammond organ/Leslie plugin).

Re: pro tools le 8 question
Pro tools 7 doesnt have the VIs (Xpand, Hybrid, DB33, etc. They came out with pro tools 8
Pro tools 7.4 was probably the most stable version of pro tools, but the added instrument pack that came with 8 was a no brainer. I think the Vi's will work with version 7, if you have bought version 8. Chris

Re: pro tools le 8 question
Also be aware that PT8 did not come with the Ignition Pack. It was discontinued with 8 because 8 added enough new instruments and effects to where they didn't feel they had to add a bunch of 3rd party software to fill that gap like they did previously.

Re: pro tools le 8 question
IMHO Pro Tools 8 was a quantum leap over 7. More plugins, more vi's and a much nicer gui.
You will have xpand with 7 and elastic came in 7.4.
