Default Mix sounds muffled

Having problems mix a song. Its very low tone, which is think is why it sounds muffled. I added a L1 limiter to master track which makes it sound more filling. Then started messing with EQ, but ended up deleting that.

Friend told me to try an exciter, but i don't know where to find one. I also did a C4 compressor and use the setting, uncompressor, which helped it out.

Any ideas?

wow.. what kind of mixer are you using to send it to the Digi? I use a Allen And Heath and my mixes are very lively.. Also it depends on the rooms you record in.. So many things can cause this problem! Dont buy gear though! Find out how you can maximize your stuff first!

It would help immensely if you could post the mix. It would make it easier to give suggestions.
Do you have any way to possibly post it?

I use just the Digi001 gear. I figure i spent $800 on it, i'm using every bit of it before i buy more crap. I record guitar amps in a closet full of clothes. I think its because the mic placement of the condensor mic being to high, and the shure 57 being very close. Going to do some over-dubs with the guitar going straight to the digi, maybe get a better tone. Also re try the EQ and lower bass and raise treble.

Yea i'll can post it, it will later tonight.

I get a very satisfactory guitarsound by close-micing the cabinet with an sm-57. Just make sure you crank up the amp, so it has a nice sound. The sm57 can take that beating....
