Default New to MACs need advise (Hardware)

Hi guyz,

My old PC laptop doesn't do the job (and it's not a supported setup for pro tools either) so I'm willing to give Mac a try.

That being said, I know nothing about Macs, at all.

On the web site they looks ... clean and somewhat expensive.

I was wondering:

1 - With a MBox2 Mini, the last pro tools version, and the needs to record vocals one track at the time and loading less than 20 tracks a the same time in a project, what should I be looking for as minimum requirement ?

2 - Is it a mandatory need to go with the new models of Macs or I can think about buying a 2nd hand one, decently recent ?

3 - Which model is support with a pro tools setup ? (Is there any links stating hardware compatibility ?) Can I buy like a Mini, a macbook ?

4 - I'm seing a lot of 5400 RPM drives with Macs, it is enough ? Is Macs offering faster drives ? Should I worry about it ?

Well sorry for all these nooby questions, but no one in my surrounding can answer them!

Please help!

Thanks in advance, this is much apreciated. <3

Oups I didn't mention I was using Pro Tools LE. And I think I posted this on the wrong section of the forum (should it be on pro tools LE for MAC?). Can any forum admin move my post if it not in the right place please ? Sorry & thx much.

Here's the compatibility documents, that should answer a lot of your questions.

You could post in the Mac LE forum for better advice.
