Your recording drive is formatted FAT32, needs to be NTFS basic, probably the reason for 6xxx errors. Mismatched RAM is probably the reason for 9xxx errors.

You should not mix-and-match RAM like this. That alone could be causing your problem. (but may not be your complete solution.

This is the drive you are recording to? How? Pro Tools no longer supports FAT32 drives.

You need to be using a qualified FW interface.

This absolutely MUST be disabled when running Pro Tools.

No version of Pro Tools is supported on Vista 64. The only 64-bit Windows operating system that is supported is Windows 7.

I really didn't spend much time on your Sandra but are you recording to a dedicated audio drive? and also I saw something was formatted to fat32.

Hi Patrick, all that has been said above is spot on. You are more fortunate than some as these issues can be solved with a few changes to your system. Please post back and let us know how it's coming along.

Ok... so my concern is this, the RAM is what was sent from DELL... they sent it mismatched, do I need to get this fixed by them???

I am able to upgrade my OS from Vista to Win 7 ... would I just be better off doing that and going forward?

Also, I'm trying to register the product with Avid, and I keep getting an error from their webiste. Little tough to register and get an upgrade (I was sent 8.0.3, understand I need 8.0.4 to work with Vista 64 or Windows 7)

Wow! That's just... wow!

Right here is another reason not to buy from Dell!

I would say yes.

Yes. Absolutely.
8.0.4 is the last version of Pro Tools that will be supported on Vista or XP, and you have Vista 64-bit, which isn't supported at all.

8.0.4 should be a free update. You can download it here.
HOWEVER, as I have mentioned several times, Pro Tools is not supported in Vista 64.

Ok... so here we go again...

Since we last "spoke"... I've upgraded my O/S to Windows 7 (64 bit), I downloaded and launched 8.0.4...

I've even reformatted my external drive to NTSF...

I'M STILL GETTING latency issues at higher buffers (1028 or 2156)

If I run less than 1028, I get the dreadded Please increase the H/W buffer message.

I can't win.. thoughts... Can't believe I've wasted $400.00 on this... I just want to record some guitar tracks to my computer without a Tascam DP-01 inbetween.... Is that so wrong???

ARRRRGH
