Default run digi 002 from mbox installed protools 7

I have 2 PTLE systems - a Digi 002 rack running PTLE6.9 which sits on an old G4 tower running OSx 10.3.9 - and a new mbox mini with PTLE 7.1 which sits on my G4 ibook laptop which is running Tiger 0s X 10.4.4. I want to be able to run the 002 rack from my laptop sometimes as the ibook has a faster processor and twice as much ram. Everything works when I plug the 002 firewire lead into my laptop except that the inputs are different in the mbox session files and I can't select spdif as an input - only INPUT 1 or INPUT 2. Should I install the PTLE 6.9 disks that came with the 002 onto my ibook as well in order to run the 002 - therefore having 2 versions of PTLE on my ibook or is this simply a template thing and I can use a template from an old 002 session with the correct inputs and open it within the version of PTLE (7.1) that came with my Mbox mini ?

Any help much appreciated

You should be able to do that if your drive has two partitions. You also need to put the OS software on both partitions too. So it is like having two drives. You would then decide which one to use by pressing "option" when booting. Your mileage may vary.

I've got it working. Not quite sure how but i messed about with the i/o options and now all the inputs appear.

Thanks for your reply.
