Default copy and paste question

I would like to paste a section of music in to a Pro Tools Session but bump the rest of the song that comes after the edit point over to the right the same number of measures. Is this possible?

Yes. Put PT in Shuffle Mode before doing the Paste.

Also, make sure the ALL group is enabled AND all tracks are in Playlist View if you want underlying playlists to move as well.

Adding to what Drew said; make sure to Shift+click any rulers (tempo, meters, markers) if you need those to shuffle over as well.

What you could do, is make your edit selection for the portion of the track you want, then copy and paste once beside that edit selection and then copy and paste the rest of the song beside that. And of course, delete that duplicate clip that lies between.

Hi stereofidelic, I think you would save a whole lot of work time if you checked out shuffle mode in Pro Tools. It is designed to enable the ability to do a one click move to do exactly what the thread starter asked about doing. Drew and the other posters have already done a good job of explaining the use of this function.

Definitely an easier method using shuffle, WernerF. :)

Thanks very much to everyone for your help. That's the beauty of using Pro tools. There are many people who know the program inside out,
