New SCSI LVD hard disks...OK or Not ?
All you folks who are on top of this stuff...how about the new LVD scsi hard disks.....I am removing the hard disks from the studio to reduce the noise back to the ambient level.....LVD's can be placed in another room entirely without a problem from distance. Are they acceptable with ProTools Mix 24, does Digidesign have a problem with them yet... ANYONE.care to try this one...

Re: New SCSI LVD hard disks...OK or Not ?
the short answer is: They work so much better and relieve so many problems associated with Ultrawide drives they's almost a necessity.

Re: New SCSI LVD hard disks...OK or Not ?
The problem is - Digi does not have an approved LVD SCSI card on the approved hardware list. Therefore, connecting LVD drives to the only approved SCSI card, which is single-ended, is pointless. I have repeatedly begged Steve Rosenthal to give me information on whether or not Digi will approve an LVD Atto or Adaptec card, but I have not received any reply.
Feel free to chime in Steve. Digi NEEDS to approve an LVD card RIGHT NOW. I am going to take my Atto Digi kit back to where I bought it. The Atto card causes more problems than it solves. |
