Default 002R Headphone Amplifier Impedance

Hi.

I'm considering running two pairs of headphones across one line in parallel (rated at 32 Ohms each, so a final load of 16 Ohms), and was wondering whether or not the built-in headphone amplifier would be able to handle it?

It's rated at 150 Ohms, and I gather that this is its safest lowest load? I run a single pair of these headphones (rated at 32 Ohms) on it fine, so I'm not sure whether its matching down to 32 Ohms as it should and I'm pushing it already?

Your knowledge/experience is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
onlyone-jc.

It would be better to run them in series, which would give a 64 Ohm load to the amplifier. You would have to build a special Y cable to do this.

Thanks for your reply.

Series is an option, but it would give a lower output level. I'd prefer to maintain the same output level or better it by running them in parallel, providing the headphone amplifier built in to the 002R can handle a load as low as 16 Ohms?

Thanks,
onlyone-jc.

I don't see a problem with spliting the Headphone out, but you best bet would be getting a headphone amp with about 4 outs. Differences in heaphones and personal differences in listen levels between people will warrant independent controls.
