Question Recording Instrument Plug In- Boom ?

Aloha , Im on an 002 , still on 8.0 . Im enjoying the instrument plug in Boom and wish to record my beats onto a track. Im brain farting on how to. Do I need to do a sub mix , or is it my I/O set up ? I have a M Audio keystation 49e , but its not working with the ease of Xpand2 or others I have recorded.
Thank you for any replies.
