Default sample or tick based?

whats the difference between these 2 types of tracks? also, is one or the other better for certain things? thanx for any help...

Covered on Page 234 of the Ref Guide.

Tick based audio is better for using with sliced audio and tempo changes, but can be useful in a number of other ways.

I can give an example in a scoring situation. Say you have a cue for a scene with someone walking down a dark hallway and a you have a big orchestra sting when the monster jumps out to scare everyone . If you write the MIDI for the orchestra sting on a sample based track and then change the tempo of the cue, the sting will remain in place because the MIDI is referenced to it's position in the timeline and not to bars and beats.

Yeh. That's why you put in a big music sting when the monster jumps out. To make people pee their pants.
