TL Space IR Libraries Gone

Hey guys. Jumped in a session today to find that TL Space had spontaniously forgotten where my IR Libraries are. As a result my saved sessions load with the right settings but no IR installed.

I know how to reinstall the libraries, but Space doesn't seem to remember which IR I was using. I'm wondering if anyone has a fix to relink the libraries?

Note: When I use my old hard drive All my IRs are magically back. The current hard drive is a clone, up to date as of a week ago.

The MAIN PROBLEM was that the directories that TL Space points to to find it's IRs were not named the same from drive to drive.

"Drive1/Volumes/IRPackages/Auditorium" was what TL Space was searching for while "Drive2/Volumes/IRPackages/Auditorium" was what was physically plugged into the machine.

THE FIX was to reformat "Drive2" to have the same name as "Drive1" so that even though they are physically different drives, TL Space doesn't have broken links.

1. Go to Disk Utility
2. Go to the Erase Tab
3. Make Sure you back up your drive.
4. Change the name of the drive so that it matches the directory you want.
5. Format
6. Get everything back on the drive and you're good to go.

Alternatively, if you're setting up/transferring work to a new drive use the CLONE option on DISK UTILITY to avoid these kinds of problems.

So you changed out a drive; does the NEW drive have the same letter as the old drive? If not, change the drive letter of the new drive

Exacly what I was gonna say! Good catch there Dave This was making our whole day a bad memory a few months back and after we did that step we were back in Beezneez again.

Seems like a good fix, thanks guys. A couple more questions.

1. How do you change the drive name/letter on a mac?
2. At times I have both drives plugged in to transfer information from one to the other. Will that fudge anything up?

And regarding the 2nd question, That doesn't stuff up our setup and shouldn't stuff up yours either so do the steps and see if that works, if it does Not try with only one drive connected and we can take it from there

Reformatted the latter drive, threw on my IRs and the single session folder. Worked like a charm.

Hi,

excuse me if it's a stupid question - but I'm trying to understand the problem:

Snipertango is on a Mac if I understood correct.
So isn't it just enough that he would have changed his drive's name from the finder so that the correct pathname would have been back ?

Also, what's this topic about a drive letter ? I thought this is windows only ?
