midi import
On pro tools 9.0.3, when I try to import a multitrack midi file nothing happens when I click open in the file browswer. The file browswer doesn't close. It's like I never selected a file.
I can drag midi files into an instrument or midi track, but then all tracks/channels contained in the midi file end up on one track. If I make midi files with only one track/channel then import works. Occording to the doc, I am supposed to be able to import multi track midi files (type 1 or 0) and pro tools is supposed to add a pro tools track for each track in the midi files. What am I doing wrong? |

Re: midi import
So nobody else has this problem?
I did find a midi file that works as advertised, however I still have several that don't. Midi file "repair" utilites don't show anything wrong with the files that don't work, and it doesn't seem to be type 0 vs. type 1 files either. Still stumped... |

Re: midi import
In Pro Tools try File>Import>Midi.
Usually an option to import to separate tracks is offered.

Re: midi import
That's what I'm doing.
Again, what happens is the file browswer dialog from File-->import-->midi won't complete. You select the midi file, click open, and nothing happens. The file browser doesn't close, nothing. It's like you never clicked open. |

Re: midi import
Sorry my misunderstanding.
Sometimes when I get quirky little things like this happen I run the PT installer & choose 'Repair'. It has helped fix some issues so it wouldn't hurt to give that a go.
