PT11 not recognizing MIDI Controller.

Has anyone had any issues with PT11 not recognizing their MIDI controller? I have an M-Audio Keystudio that I use and it works fine in PT10, Reason, Garageband, Logic, Kontakt, etc but not with PT11. I've even done a complete uninstall of both PT10 and 11 and still the same issue.

Same here - the transport functions on my C600 interface does not work. It is recognized as a midi controller and I can select it - but nothing happens when i press the buttons.

2 things for all of you to check. For midi, go to Setup>Midi>Midi Studio and make sure your midi controller is an available "instrument" and that you have assigned the proper input port. For controllers that control transport, you need to set those up in Setup>Peripherals(reading the controller manual might help here).

Ok I got it. Well more accurately this forum helped figure this one out.

In fact albee1952 one of your post from a different thread had the answer. Thanks.

Record enable the instrument track and bang all of the sudden I was able to control the vi's with my keyboard.

I found that for some reason when pro tools 11 installs the midi preferences default is set to none. In pro tools 10 it sets to first selected instrument track.
At least it did that for me.

So now in PT 11 I changed the midi preferences and was able to get the midi controller to work without having to record enable the instrument track.

I'm having a similar problem but your solutions arent working for me.

I have a novation Remote 25 LE keyboard. its plugged in via USB into the computer. I followed the directions of a youtube video to set everything up. Meaning I went to SETUP/MIDI/MIDI STUDIO SETUP and tried to add my device. I added a novation however under MODEL my model was not available as an option. so i left that blank.

Then I went to BEAT CLOCK and checked everything.

Then I went to filter and INPUT DEVICES. and checked on Navtion 1.

I hit record enable and open up expand but nothing happens when i push a key. Is there a step I am missing? or perhaps the fact that my model wasnt specified could be causing the problem?

You guys always are a great help. Help please.

Same issue here with an EMU Xboard61 on PT 11 and MAC - anyone an idea how to solve this ? record enable did not work for me... First night with PT since 3 years..ah the fun begins..

I have tried every install/uninstall - reinstall - trash prefs/ reboot - plugin/out back in - everything. Except, maybe.. just maybe I may try use The Force - Yoda ..please help.


My controller works fine with Logic & Reason - all the tests in the MIDI Studio show its OK - its selected and seen as a controller in PT - but it will not work. I presume this is s a bug .. 2 hours last night, and hour this morning. WOW. just WOW. I had not used PT since PT 8, I am back in 2011.

I just want to smile and record, AVID you just make me frustrated.
