Default OT: new hard drive/ old auth #\'s

Attention Gurus:
I'm a little confused (and pleasantly surprised I hope)......
To begin my migration to Leopard,
I installed a new internal hard drive in my Mac Pro and I cloned my (Tiger) system drive to the new hd. (fyi - I haven't installed Leopard yet)
I checked to make sure that the cloned drive would boot properly (it did)
When I opened PT on the clone - I expected my non-ilok plugs to ask for new authorizations (new hd right?)....
BUT the few plugs that I checked.... they opened no problem
(it seems in the past when I booted from an external clone - the plugs wouldn't open? due to a new digital id or something like that)
Am I mistaken and/or lucky???
Will I be able to avoid new auth codes???
thanks in advance

typically programmers dont use hard disk serials/IDs/etc for making a unique ID because users more frequently change hard drives. (system memory too) now if you upgraded your CPU, network card, motherboard, or video card, you might have a problem.

cant say for sure though - i got out of that business.

that's what I'm hoping...
Is it possible that since the new drive is internal - new software auth codes aren't required?

thanks

I've never had to re-auth anything after installing just a new internal drive, I can tell you that much.

just to be clear -
I've moved/cloned my entire "system" drive to a new (internal)hard drive - OSX, all apps, etc.
the plug-ins now reside on a new drive - so I thought they might ask for re-auth due to the new location - guess not?
(again - I'm pretty sure in the past when I have booted from a cloned EXTERNAL drive - the non-ilok plugs asked for (re)authorization)
thanks

Not sure what you have used in the past but SuperDuper cloned drives have always performed this way for me.

I use Carbon Copy Cloner. I tried Super Duper (a while ago) but it completely whacked out my Pro Tools
All my plugs seem to be working on the new hard drive. Guess it's time to load up Leopard.... and LOTS of software updates.(let's see...goodbye to Trilogy, Atmosphere, BFD1, and who knows what other surprises?)

wish me luck

My results have been just the opposite, carbon cloner has always given me problems and bad backups.

Yoiu shoulkdn't have any problems since you should be doing a clean OS install and only installing plugs that are Leopard ready.
