Connection Help

I got dragged into helping someone put together their studio. They basically brought a lot of equipment and really didnt know how to put it together, so in comes me. But some of the equipment I'm not familiar with and would like a little assistance if possible. Equipment that I'm unsure of:


MOTU Timepiece
RME Fireface 800
Alesis MasterLink


With that being said the items that I need assitance with is the RME, MOTU and Masterlink.

The RME was brought to expand the 003r out to 16outs so that the MPC2500 can be tracked out via 8output and for furture expansion (I guess). So I'm thinking hook it up via SPDIF and use the 003r as the primary clock. And when using Logic have the RME as the main Interface?? Any sugguestions.

The MOTU - how should I hook this up. I read that you can have this hooked up to the computer and also have it run without the computer, which is what I would like also, because the way I have his MPC2500 and KORGM3 hooked up, he dont have to turn on the computer to work on music, only when he is ready to track out, so I would like both devices (MPC/KORG) synced via the Timepiece.

Lastly, the MasterLink - how can I set this up to record the track out after it's bounced. Right now I have it going into Aux7/8 to 'hear' the CD, but how do I get it to record from the 003R or RME.
