Can we please have more info on your setup. What MIDI devices and/or interfaces are you using?

he told you what midi device he's using. MPC2000XL. Does anyone use outboard gear anymore?

The mpc will work better as the slave in this case. Use PT as the master. You sequencers will sync better this way. It will still work with the mac turned off. It only locks to PTLE when midi is present. In other words, you can still make music without your mac.

Send digi out to MPC in. Go into setup switch midi sync to midi in A or B.

When you hit play it will be on time (defaulted to 120bpm) Obviously change that. When you stop it, it will reset to 0.

cory,

I completely agree with you. I don't think you understood my post. Use your digi as the master for recording your audio from you mpc sequenced samples/modules. You are not replacing the mpc timing which, imo, can't be touched, you are telling your mpc to start\stop\go back. If you do it the other way around, you will run into audio timing issues. Like wav files cutting off. This way the mpc will wait until PTLE tells it is ready to record. You will get less pops from loop based recording. Am I more clear? I own a mpc also and that is my sequencer for hip hop/r&b/house/etc.

My G4 an my PT are gone now due to a logic board failure RIP. however, i think I remember havin g it set up like this. you send Midi beat clock out of the mpc to digi 001. I have digi read this under MIDI pulldown window. then in preferances have digi supply timecode to the port you MPC midi in is connected to. this should read MTC at the framerate your pt is generating. and chase it, making it the slave. although you will stall have total contol over the transports. if I am wrong CITI tell me.. I am out of a set up these days. no more PT for me. a couple different methods work actually. i think that unit you got strips smpte to MIDI you could that then use console software to route timecode wherever you like. that was how I had set iit up. but I had a buch of weird **** runningthru my midi set up. console software lets you do mae differnt **** , and it is usefull too, not just junk, channel filters, channel mutling. time code splitting mmc signal splitting. yadda yadda yadda.
