Default Mbox Is NOT Useless!!!!!

I did it, I finally did it. The solution to the usb audio problem is Mac OS 9.2.2. I was using 9.1 and couldn't even get one reverb, now I can get 2 realverbs and two d-verbs along w/ multiple other plugs on at least 10 tracks (all that test song has so far) with no problem. Today is a great day for me. BTW, I think somebody else mentioned that this fixed their problem, but after my much publicized travails with the Mbox, I felt I should let it be known that it even worked for my FUBAR setup.

Daryl,

Hopefully DIGI will add this to their documentation if its not just an isolated case.

If it isnt an isolated case, it really makes me wonder how much platform testing DIGI did since they didn't specify 9.2 as the required minimum OS in their documentation. They clearly state that 9.1 is acceptable.

If 9.1 doesn't offer enough performance to run plugins, Id say that the minimum operating system should be spec'd 9.2.

are you using a firewire drive or your laptop's internal drive?

I am using the internal HD, but have an 80gig FW on the way. So far am having success with the internal drive, but I didn't want to test my luck when it comes to larger sessions.

daryl
I found that 9.2.2 was the answer as well.
Things are cool now.

hey daryl, boy i toldya so,

..discard 9.1, install 9.2, make a minimum 9.2 audio system extension profile...etc.

anyway, nice to see you can get so much plugins with your icebook500 and mbox.
Perphaps i'll take a serious look at it (if only it had drivers for logic.. there's no notation in ptools..)

btw, can you make a 2nd report about its mic pres and A/D/A converters?
what will you compare them to? (not a gml i guess)
How many hours of battery with icebook and mbox (with/out phantom)?

thanx

Yeah, I still have the recogziation problem, but I haven't upgraded th firmware to rev. 18 yet. It kinda sucks to have to plug and unplug, but now that I'm getting all my plugs, I'm willing to overlook that problem for the time being. I will try to install the new firmware today and will post a report. As far as the Mic Pres, I think they are really very good for the price. They are very transparent, which I thinkk is good for this siuation. I don't know what I would compare them to, but I say they are an improvement over the 001's (which I don't think are that bad).
