Default PT10 on Win7sp1 (32) not launching

Successfully installed PT10, but cannot run it.

I'm hanging when it gets to loading plugins. (It hangs as soon as it hits Varifi.dpm). I have only installed the plugins that come with the standard PT10 install.

So far I've tried the following:

Enabled DEP
Disabling DWM
Removing plugins
Deleted Preferences in CommonFiles/Digidesign/DAE Prefs
User Account Control settings = Never Notify
Enabled Legacy Firewire Controllers
...have tried everything on Avid's Win7 Troubleshooting page...
Uninstall/Reinstall multiple times
Run as Win XP SP3 compatability
Uninstal/Reinstal as Admin (even though I've always been using the admin account)

Please help! :)

System:
PC Win7 sp1 32bit
Intel Core2 Duo 3.00 GHz
4gig RAM

Hardware:
Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP w/ latest drivers

Try setting DEP for windows and essential services only. That's what I ended up with.

Unfortunately, I had already set DEP to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only". No love.

I once had a problem similar to yours.

If I recall correctly, the fix was to turn DEP off.

Hey there - you might want to try setting the "Win XP SP3" mode in the Compatibility tab. Don't ask why, it solved hefty access violations for me...
Hope you find a solution!

Thanks for the tip. Instead of hanging at Varifi.dpm, it crashed immediately when it got there. At least its something different.

do you have pt10 set to run as administrator? also there's a graphics setting you can have it run in that takes the frills away (I forget what it's called, not at my workstation). Lastly - did you try moving varifi to the unused plugins folder (though you shouldn't have to)? If it crashes on the plugin after that then at least you know varifi has nothing to do with it

Yes, I've tried all of these things. No love. Although this is a PC and my account is the admin account, I manually run as admin and uninstal, reinstal as admin... no worky. I've removed all plugins, no worky.

Wish I had just bought PT9... I should be paid to be an Avid Tester.

Anyone find a fix to this?
I"m still having terrible issues with the latest version of PT10.
In order to launch it successfully, I need to delete my DAE Prefs every time.
Additionally, I"m getting an error that says my driver settings have changed and i need to restart protools for these changes to take effect - PT will no longer function until I restart it... which means I need to delete DAE Prefs again to get it to launch.

"ASIO device properties have been changed by the device control panel. Pro Tools must be restarted for these changes to take effect. Please restart Pro Tools."

This occurs completely randomly, and often.

Man... this has been a nightmare. I'm really lucky I have AA Translator and Reaper.
