Default hardware setup presets

I need to change my hardware routings on hardware setup window quite often. It would be great if you could save your favorite hardware setups as presets on hardware setup window. Much less hassle with pull-down menus. Bad or good idea?

Thanks. You mean using "import session data"? That's a bit complicated way to do a quick change. Basically I have to use two different setups in one session, and need to change between them often.

In the I/O setup dialog box where you make your HW connections, you can use the export button on that screen and give it a name. in a new session, or even that one, if you want a different I/o setup, press Import and all the different HW setups that you saved using Export will be available.

Yes, but there are no import and export settings buttons in the hardware setup dialog box.

I would like to save settings which include the info what input and output channels are using analog or digital inputs etc.

This is a Pro Tools HD system correct?

I/O setup provides what you are asking for. Click on the pop-up menus along the top of the I/O matrix to set digital or analog inputs/outputs.

I/O setup does NOT support settings like -10 vs +4 input, soft clip, SR conversion, etc.. These are only available in HW setup. If you wanted to store different templates for these types of settings, you would need to backup the Digisetup preference. Swapping pref files requires a restart is not something Digidesign would garuntee to be 100% reliable although in theory it should work.

hope this helps,

Hi DigiTechSupt,

I am using a HD system with 96 i/o and PT 6.9.1. I can't see how I could switch channel 7 and 8 inputs and outputs from analog to S/PDIF and channel 1 and 2 outputs from analog to both analog and AES/EBU from I/O setup window. Am I missing something here?

Have you tried saving different copies of the DAE Prefs folder and switching that around between Pro Tools launches?

Hi,

correct me if i'm wrong! but is there some confusion between I/O setup and H/W (HARDWARE) setup here!!!

I agree with the original poster, it would be nice to be able to save the H/W (hardware) setup settings. sometimes i need all inputs set to adat for crossing over data from my HD24 and then i need it back to analogue inputs for my instruments and outboard inserts etc.

Chris
