Let's not forget how meters work.

I'm interested in the forum's opinion of SurroundScope. The idea of having a Lissajous meter in a plug-in is enticing, but does this plug-in meter have faults? I would like to avoid paying for a meter plug-in that is riddled with issues, such as the BombFactory Essential Meter Bridge.

Every Plug-in meter I have seen is way too slow for serious monitoring of peaks. The SurroundScope is a good idea, but it's just too slow. I like separate meters anyway so that I can place them in my line of sight when working.

So if you are not using SurroundScope, what do you use for a Lissajous meter, or do you not use one?

Any other users that can confirm SurroundScope being too slow?

So it would seem that the DK600, RTW 10809, Digital Durroughs and the Logitek meters are all wonderful. Anyone with experience using 2 or more and able to give a summary of their likes and dislikes? For those of you who own one of these systems, how much did you pay?

Obviously, I'm in the market and would love some real world experiences to help guide me through this purchase. And yes, I have read all of the material from their websites. I would prefer to stay digital. But that seems easy enough.

Your thoughts?

The best meter plugin is/was Spectr Foo. If they EVER update it for OS X I will buy the upgrade. I didn't find surround scope slow but it does take up a lot of realestate and the meters could be better.

If the meters weren't too slow for you, what is their fault?

They will. They have already a downloadable time limited beta.

That said, I have Foo, but bought DK Audio meter and like it.

Us 'Europeans' could never understand how you Americans could get by with 'soggy old VU' meters-we only believe PPM's, peak reading meters like the BBC ones. Since digital came in believe that they are a must, preferably now in a form like the DK's. With so much 'over peaked' audio in the digital world the slogan should be 'back it off a bit' I feel!

Well the whole thing is too big (if your only interested in the meters) and the meters have no flexibility. I'm probably spoiled because I was used to Spectra Foo and MLM before that where pretty much everything is adjustable, from scale and response to size, color, style, etc.
Surround scope came with one of the upgrades I wouldn't have bought it as a stand alone. Also if I remember correctly in at least one version of PT it wouldn't run with out the surround mixer being installed and thus eating an extra DSP (though I may be mis remembering).
