Avid proves yet again how useless they are

6 months after Mac M1 released, you release a new version of pro-tools, without making the video engine silicon compatible.
And you don't make sure your install app checks to make sure it's compatible.

And then, when I go to download the older version, its taking an hour to download.

Yes, Avid has QC issues with their products for years now.

Yes, Mark has anger management issues for years now.

Would be great in both cases to spend some resources on this. For the latter I can recommend some meditation.

I think most people would see "M1 Compatible" and think it is native but Avid seems to think Rosetta compatible is good enough. It's really poor and deceptive marketing.

And last I checked the video engine statement is buried in the fine print. Not a way to win fans.

Blackmagic released a fully silicon compatible version of Davinci Resolve within 2 months.
And that program is unbelievably powerful and complex.

And Avid can't get their app to even recognize what it's installing to, and give the warning "This is incompatible".

What a joke.

They released the beta on day 1! Shame Fairlight sucks. I love Resolve, but Fairlight is the weak spot.

But I do love Fairlight's new USB controller they just released. I wish it would work with Pro Tools.

Fairlight is still useless.

"Can run" does not mean "Apple Silicon Native". I have already seen transition from 68k to PPC and then were in PT beta team during PPC to Intel, we are not there yet with Apple Silicon

While we are talking about Avid people being useless: 4k displays became available in 2012. Nine years later, in 2021 Pro tools still doesn't support 4k. This started to get ridiculous somewhere around 2016. Now it's just sad. But hey, at least they are "working on it"!
