Default fade over crossfade crashes 7.1cs6

This crashes my ProTools every time.

In it's simplest form you have two tracks. The top track has two regions connected by a crossfade. The bottom region of similar length is uncut.
Place the cursor across both tracks but inside the crossfade . . . press G to put a fadeout. poof
I didn't try command-f, etc., or fade ins, but

It's not something you'd choose to do, but it happened to me by mistake.
