iLok is by far the best licensing system out of everything else I've used.

Allows me to move all my stuff between multiple rigs, zero registering etc needed when I do a fresh install. No issues with servers going down (have had this with other plugs).

Just plug in my iLok and off I go. Easy.

Do what you want, but the majority of us are in favor. (Just because you don’t like it, or didn’t set it up correctly, doesn’t mean nobody can use it, ya know?)

Too bad Waves doesn't use iLok. I have a separate USB dongle just for the effin Waves license...

Indeed, I also am happier with iLok than ALMOST any other scheme. I do like the Waves USB stick method for 2 reasons; 1-if you had to, once a session is open, you can move the stick to another system and the first stays working(something iLok can't do) and 2-if anything bad happens to the USB stick(lost, stolen, broken), you get a free once-per-year instant recovery I find those that complain the most are usually not highly experienced(something that can be said for all of us at one time)

how is ilok great if you can't run 2 simultaneous instances of pro tools with same ilok cloud account, even if you own 2 licenses, and it allows you to deposit the licenses in account?

and no, different ilok accounts is not an option,
and no, using a dongle on my MBP is not an option either

It is by design, one iLok account - one iLok cloud. Move duplicate to another account if you need to use two clouds.

It's OK, he's American...

Besides, having been to both places several times I'm not sure the Swedes want Helsinki back.

Having an iLok for the software or plugs isn't so bad these days. It used to be MUCH worse. I wish the iLok had one of those dual A and C connectors. It's great. I bounce between a couple of machines with my plugs.

The thing that is ridiculous is requiring a console to be online prior to use. Not the plugs, the console itself. That's galactically stupid. A six figure console is the ultimate dongle. I've had to do it with both S6L and S6.

The S6 does not need to be online.
None of ours are.
There's one activation file that gets transferred via USB stick when needed. Same stick carries software updates. But that's it. The S6 surfaces aren't online.

another one in favor of iLok. I will say, though, that I wish Avid supported Computer as an authorization location (which they do with the plugins, but not the PT app itself). When I'm traveling with a laptop, it's nice to be able to NOT carry the iLok. (And iLok Cloud is just not reliable enough... or more correctly, Greek internet is just not reliable enough.)
