Dumb. question...bouncing stems/tracks
OK. I have been confused. on this for my entire time as a PT user. I need to send a bounce of a single track to a friend.
If I solo the track and then do a bounce, it ignores my solo selection. All tracks heard. Everything is fed through auxes that feeds a mix bus. Mix bus is the only thing that hits main outputs. Nothing is solo safe'd, my bounce source is set to physical output 1-2. Still, every track is included in the bounce. Google results say that solos should be reflected if the bounce source is set to physical outs. This is killing me! |

Sounds weird..
Anyway, let's start with some information of your setup. Please take a look at the Help Us Help You linked to the forum header.

Re: Dumb. question...bouncing stems/tracks
Ok. System specs:
mid 2018 MacBook pro OSX Mojave 10.14.6 i9 2.9ghz 32GB. Ram PT 2019.12.0 I think maybe my understanding of soloing in PT is just doomed. I really need to figure this out. I want it to be such that if I solo an aux, I hear all tracks sent to the aux. If I solo a track, I want to hear that track routed all the way to the mix bus. Search results claim that I should solo safe auxes. I've done this, which allows me to hear bus processing on tracks if I solo at track level, but then soloing that aux just mutes all sound. Search results say "then solo-safe the tracks feeding the bus also". But then those tracks don't mute when I solo an unrelated aux. I cannot wrap my head around this, and I've watched enough videos to make my head spin. |

Re: Dumb. question...bouncing stems/tracks
How about muting the auxes/ tracks you don't want to play instead? or make them inactive?
Trying to solo on an aux isn't recommended |

Re: Dumb. question...bouncing stems/tracks
If nothing else helps and there indeed is a bug, after reporting the bug to Avid Support, route your soloed track/buss to a dummy buss like Bus 127-128 and bounce that buss.

Re: Dumb. question...bouncing stems/tracks
Forgive me but I just don’t get that logic in the least. Why would soloing an aux be undesired? If I decide i want to hear my drums/bass together to lock in the rhythm section, I definitely don’t feel like muting 40 other tracks, or even 10 auxes, when I could as easily solo two.

Re: Dumb. question...bouncing stems/tracks
Try setting up VCA's for each group. Use the VCA Master to solo the members.

Re: Dumb. question...bouncing stems/tracks
Maybe a clearer explanation of the goal would help?? If its a single track you want to share, don't bounce it...use Track Commit. Then export that new audio file
