Default Can someone explain this bug fix

Snap to Grid with Slip mode now functions correctly. (PTSW-132934)

When editing in Slip mode with Snap to Grid enabled, editing behavior is now correct: selections are constrained to the grid but edits are not.

Shuffle with Grid has been VERY useful since announced in PT8 but my problem with this other mode of this feature all along has been that these two seem to be mutually exclusive. You're either in slip OR grid. It always seemed like a mistake to me.

But now, this conscious fix in 10.1.1 . . . . I don't get it. Your selection area dictates your edit - how can you edit outside of your selection? Can anyone explain this to me?

Thanks.

So you can slip the selection of the grid. Selection can be a number of Clips.

Hmmm, so you're saying you make your selection snapping to the grid and then, maybe using the Grabber, you can slip that entire selection free of the grid? OK, I get you with that

. . . . when you've been doming something the same way for so long it's interesting when a different way of thinking about it comes along. Thanks for the reply - I need to stew on this for a while!

What's a good example, is kick sample, aligned to the grid but the attack is slightly behind the grid. Holding a modifier you can simply slip the attack without constrained to the grid.

I'm not with you Aaron. There's no need to hold a modifier . . . it sounds like you're describing Relative Grid mode as opposed to Absolute Grid mode.
