Sound changes after bounce.
was curious to why when i hear my session with head phones in the MBOX i get the sounds blended the way i want them. BUT when i bounce to disk as an AIFF or any other file the sounds change. like a sound might sound higher then it did when i listened in the session. whats the best way to get true sound?

Re: Sound changes after bounce.
some people say that what were experiencing is impossible??? are we liars? LOL
after i bounce anything i re import it into another session and EQ it to blend the sounds and to make it crisper. so that will help a lil. |

Re: Sound changes after bounce.
Id say theres alot that could cause a bounced file to sound different than the original. First and foremost would be the equipment you are listening to it on. Also the starting sample rate and bit depth could have alot to do with it too. If you are bouncing a 24/96 file to 16/44.1 without a good dither it could sound markedly different than the original. One thing I would say if you are using an 002 I always get the best results recording in 88.2 because its obviously exactly double 44.1 . This makes it much easier for the computer to "line everything up" during the bounce and sounds nearly as good as 96khz anyways. Another thing is i dont see much reason to ever record in 48khz unless you are going to later be using equipment that demands it. The difference in audio quality (even though 48khz is the pro standard) isnt noticeable to the human ear when compared with 44.1khz. It's my understanding that they actually only used 48khz recordings in the pro world as a means to help deter digital piracy...boy did that ever work out.
