Help -- Mac Gurus! (weird situation here)...
Ok, I'm baffled:
I've moved to a newer iMac G4 (OSX only) to discover that WaveBurner Pro does not work in OS9 Classic mode, so until they come out with an OSX version I can't use it. Trouble is, I *have* to use it because I need to set PQ codes, etc. I have an OS9 laptop but it doesn't have a CD burner and I'm wondering if I can network the OS9 ibook to my OSX iMac to use its Superdrive. I can run a WB Pro session on the laptop but can't burn a disc or disc image file. Is it possible to set up an ethernet network that would allow the laptop to send files to the superdrive on the iMac? Or will I have to get an external CD-R drive for the laptop?

if you need to buy something, the cheapest route would be to buy toast with jam by roxio. the jam software can do fully red-book compliant cd:s, but needs toast to burn the image to cdr media.

Yeah, I was hoping to avoid adding more software, but I may have to try it.
If anyone knows how to network two macs so that one can use the other's superdrive, that would be great!

Is the OS 9 iBook equpped with FireWire? You could try putting the iMac in Target Disk mode see if WaveBurner Pro can access the drive that way. I'm guessing not, but it's worth a try.

I'm not familiar with WaveBurner.
But - setting up either file sharing between the two macs via ethernet or using target disc mode via firewire will allow you to move files across. Just check the mac help files - they should be able to walk you through setting up either way. And I'm not sure if the built-in burning in OSX will allow you to burn the disc image. Sorry I couldn't help more! |

Re: Help -- Mac Gurus! (weird situation here)...
This is pretty round about, but what about buying a firewire enclosure and putting the super drive into it? Then you could use the drive with both computers. Wouldn't run more then 30 bucks, cheaper then rebuying the software.
There sno free OSX upgrade of the software?
