Default Otari MX 80 transfer to PT HD question

Sorry I am new and trying to get my setup going. Recently bought HD but still want to record some stuff with my MX 80. My question is how do I transfer my tracks from the MX 80 to PT? I am assuming I cannot just go straight from the back of the MX 80 outputs into the 192 I/O via an XLR-DB25 connection. This would not allow control of inputs to PT peaking. Correct? My console is an old 36 channel TAC Matchless with TT bay (has tape machine outputs). I just want to know what kind of cables I need to get to do the transfer.
Also, eventually when I can afford expansion cards and more 192's, I will want to just go directly into the 192 and bypass the analog machine. I would assume using the existing wiring from my console to the MX 80 and back would work provided I buy the XLR-DB25 cables to connect them(existing "to" and "from" XLR's) to the 192. Basically removing the MX 80 in the chain and replacing it with the 192. Is this correct?
thanks for your help.
